Two arrested after North Belfast aggravated burglary involving masked man with knife

Two men have been arrested following a North Belfast aggravated burglary in which a masked man armed with a knife allegedly entered a home and demanded money from a woman.

Two men have been arrested following an aggravated burglary in the Silverstream Drive area of North Belfast.

Police received a report at around 9.10am on Sunday, 4 October, that a masked man had entered a property in the Silverstream Drive area.

The woman was inside the property with another man at the time.

Police said the intruder was armed with a knife and demanded money before leaving the property with cash and a vehicle stolen from outside.

The woman was not physically injured.

North Belfast aggravated burglary investigation

Detective Sergeant Long said the woman had been subjected to what police described as a “terrifying ordeal”.

After leaving the property, the suspect allegedly made off with a sum of cash and a vehicle which had been parked outside.

Police subsequently located the vehicle after it was involved in a single-vehicle collision a short distance away.

Officers also carried out a search of the surrounding area as part of their investigation.

Two men arrested after Silverstream Drive incident

Follow-up enquiries resulted in police arresting two men, aged 37 and 47.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including aggravated burglary.

Police said both men remained in custody as detectives continued enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No charges have been announced at this stage.

Police appeal for CCTV and dash-cam footage

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Silverstream Drive area to come forward.

Police are particularly interested in CCTV, dash-cam or other footage which could assist their investigation.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 457 of 04/10/26.
