Man taken to hospital after iron bar and bat attack in North Belfast

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital after being attacked by three men in a North Belfast assault, with two of the alleged attackers reported to have been armed with an iron bar and a bat.

Detectives have launched an appeal for information following the incident in the Library Street and Carrick Hill area during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police said the assault was reported to have taken place shortly before 2.30am on Saturday, 19 September.

The victim was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment for injuries sustained during the attack. 

Three men reportedly involved in North Belfast assault

According to the PSNI, the man was assaulted by three males.

Detective Sergeant McGearty said police received a report that two of those involved were armed with an iron bar and a bat.

Police have not provided further information about the circumstances leading up to the assault or specified the nature or severity of the man’s injuries.

No arrests have been announced in connection with the incident at this stage.

Detectives confirmed on Monday that enquiries into the attack remain ongoing. 

Police appeal for CCTV and footage

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened in the Library Street or Carrick Hill area at around the time of the attack to come forward.

Police are particularly interested in obtaining CCTV or other recorded footage which could assist their investigation.

The police appeal was issued on Monday, 21 September, as detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
