Twelve categories open

Now in their 12th year, the awards are organised by Road Safe NI Charity. Categories include school crossing patrols, approved driving instructors, professional drivers, young drivers and lifetime achievement, alongside awards for schools, voluntary work, businesses, emergency services and public service. Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins attended the launch.

The call for nominations comes against a serious road safety backdrop. Department for Infrastructure figures show that 56 people died in collisions in Northern Ireland in 2025. Another 1,066 were seriously injured, 14% more than in 2024. Those are figures for last year, published in August, rather than a new count released with the awards.

Nominations close on 30 October 2026. Forms are available from Road Safe NI, which lists all 12 categories and links to the nomination form. The ceremony is scheduled for Road Safety Week at Belfast Castle.
