Roddensvale School new build moves forward for up to 275 pupils

Education Minister Paul Givan has announced that plans for a new building for Roddensvale School in Larne will progress to the pre-tender stage.

The project is being advanced through the Special Educational Needs Capital Investment Programme and would provide purpose-built accommodation for up to 275 pupils.

New facilities for special educational needs pupils

The Department of Education said the proposed school would provide modern facilities designed specifically to support children and young people with special educational needs.

Announcing the latest stage during a visit to Roddensvale School, Givan said the development would provide high-quality accommodation tailored to the needs of pupils and staff.

He said progressing the project to the pre-tender stage marked the beginning of an important new chapter for the school and wider community.

Principal welcomes new school plans

Roddensvale School Principal John Madden said the announcement represented an important milestone for the school.

He said the new facilities would help ensure future generations of pupils could learn and develop in an environment designed specifically around their educational and developmental needs.

The project forms part of the Department of Education’s Special Educational Needs Capital Investment Programme.
