Foyle Food Group has announced a £15 million investment in its Omagh operations, with plans to introduce new technology, improve production processes and create seven jobs.

The major investment by the Northern Ireland beef processor will focus on modernising its facilities, introducing automated warehousing and packing equipment, and developing the skills of its workforce.

Invest Northern Ireland has offered £2.9 million in support towards the project, which was announced by Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald during a visit to the company’s Omagh site on Wednesday 14 October.

The investment is intended to improve productivity, reduce energy consumption and strengthen the company’s competitiveness in the agri-food sector.

The £15 million investment will enable Foyle Food Group to introduce new technology and automation across its production operations.

Improvements will include automated warehousing, upgraded packing equipment and changes to production processes designed to increase efficiency.

The company expects the investment to improve the quality and consistency of its beef products while strengthening its ability to supply customers and access markets.

Foyle Food Group, which was established in 1977, produces premium beef products for customers across Britain and Ireland.

The company is one of Northern Ireland’s major agri-food businesses, with its Omagh operation playing an important role in the sector.

Seven new jobs and workforce development

Alongside the investment in equipment and production facilities, Foyle Food Group will create seven new jobs at its Omagh site.

The company is also expanding its workforce development activities through its Foyle Futures programme.

The initiative is designed to develop future leaders within the business and strengthen employees’ leadership, technical and operational skills.

The training element is intended to help existing and new employees adapt to technological changes as the company modernises its operations.

Invest NI has offered £2.9 million towards the overall project through its Agri-Food Investment Initiative and skills development support.

Economy Minister welcomes investment

Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald welcomed the announcement during her visit to Foyle Food Group.

She described the company as a major employer in the west of Northern Ireland and highlighted the importance of investment in both technology and workforce development.

The Minister said the project would help modernise operations through automated warehousing, new packing equipment and improvements to production processes.

She also welcomed the company’s commitment to developing the skills of its employees, saying this would help the business remain competitive as new technology is introduced.

Foyle Food Group outlines future plans

Terry Acheson, Chief Executive of Foyle Food Group, said the investment represented an important stage in the development of the company’s Omagh operations.

He explained that upgrading technology and equipment would help improve efficiency, maintain product quality and respond to customer requirements.

Mr Acheson also highlighted the role of Invest NI in supporting the project and accelerating the company’s plans.

The investment will allow Foyle Food Group to expand its Foyle Futures programme and provide additional opportunities for employees to develop leadership, technical and operational skills.

He said the combination of workforce development and seven new jobs would be important as the business continues to grow and adapt.

Invest NI supports agri-food investment

Gráinne Moody, Director of Food and Drink at Invest NI, welcomed the announcement and highlighted the organisation’s longstanding relationship with Foyle Food Group.

Invest NI has worked with the company for approximately three decades, supporting its development and business growth.

Ms Moody said the latest investment would help strengthen Foyle Food Group’s long-term competitiveness by improving productivity and developing its workforce.
