£1 million investment announced for Northern Ireland community transport services
Community transport providers across Northern Ireland are to benefit from £1 million in new funding to replace ageing minibuses.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins announced the investment on Monday 12 October as Community Transport Week 2026 began.
The funding will allow each of Northern Ireland’s 13 community transport providers to purchase a new minibus.
Ageing minibuses to be replaced
The Department for Infrastructure said the investment would help providers modernise their fleets and maintain reliable services.
The £1 million allocation will fund replacements for 13 of the 27 vehicles identified as the highest priority because of their age, mileage and condition.
The new minibuses will support community transport services used by people who may otherwise struggle to travel independently.
Services provide vital connections
Community transport is particularly important for older people, disabled passengers and those living in areas with limited public transport options.
Services can help passengers access healthcare, shopping, community activities and other essential appointments.
Minister Kimmins said reliable vehicles were essential to ensuring vulnerable people could remain independent and connected to their communities.
Community Transport Week underway
The announcement coincides with Community Transport Week, which runs from 12 to 16 October.
The campaign highlights the contribution community transport organisations make to tackling isolation and improving accessibility.
The Department said the new investment would help providers continue delivering services safely and efficiently.
