The ten-part series, titled “PSNI Beyond the Badge”, launched on Wednesday, October 7 and will explore some of the experiences and challenges faced by those working within the organisation.
Officers from Peelers feature in first episode
The opening instalment features Constables Jade and Adam and Sergeant Nigel, who appeared in the BBC documentary series Peelers.
Hosted by presenter Lata Sharma, the first of a two-part episode sees the officers discuss their involvement in the television programme and the public reaction following its broadcast.
Police said the podcast will provide an opportunity to hear stories which go beyond the uniform and give listeners a more personal perspective on modern policing in Northern Ireland.
Series launched ahead of recruitment campaign
Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Singleton said the series comes as the PSNI prepares to launch its next student officer recruitment campaign and approaches its 25th anniversary.
He said the organisation wanted officers and staff to have an opportunity to tell their stories in their own words and highlight their roles as members of local communities.
Further episodes of “PSNI Beyond the Badge” are expected to explore different aspects of policing and the experiences of PSNI personnel.
