Man charged with explosives and firearms offences after Armagh search

Armagh explosives charges: A 56-year-old man has been charged with a number of explosives and firearms offences following a police search in Armagh.

The man was arrested after officers searched a property in the Corrigan Court area on Tuesday morning.

Police said the man had initially been arrested on suspicion of making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances.

He has since been charged with a number of offences, including making explosives under suspicious circumstances and possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances.

The charges also include possession of firearms or ammunition in suspicious circumstances and possession of firearms or ammunition without a certificate.

Court appearance expected today

The 56-year-old is expected to appear before Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Newry, today, Wednesday 30 September.

As is standard procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
