The closures will affect the junction connecting Sandy Row, Hope Street, Boyne Bridge Place and Linfield Road from Wednesday 21 October until Friday 23 October 2026.

The Department for Infrastructure has confirmed that the restrictions are required to complete manhole and gully works as part of ongoing public realm improvements associated with Belfast Grand Central Station.

Road closures begin Wednesday evening

The first restrictions will come into effect at 7pm on Wednesday 21 October and remain in place until 6am the following morning.

During this period, there will be no access to or from Sandy Row through the junction with Hope Street, Linfield Road and Boyne Bridge Place.

Northbound access to Boyne Bridge Place will also be restricted.

However, southbound traffic travelling along Boyne Bridge Place will be permitted to turn east onto Hope Street.

Full junction closure on Thursday and Friday

Further restrictions will be introduced on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October.

On both evenings, the junction connecting Boyne Bridge Place, Hope Street, Sandy Row and Linfield Road will be completely closed between 7pm and 6am.

The closures are expected to affect motorists travelling through the area, particularly those accessing routes around Belfast Grand Central Station.

Access maintained for residents

TrafficWatch has confirmed that access for local residents will be maintained throughout the works.

The affected roads are scheduled to reopen at 6am each morning.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time when travelling through the area during the overnight restrictions.
